Morgan Stanley's US 2027 Investment Banking Summer Associate applications opened September 11, 2026 and close December 18, 2026. London applications opened earlier — July–August 2026 — on a rolling basis. If you're aiming for 2027, the window is open right now, but it won't stay that way.
When do applications open and close?
United States (IB Summer Associate 2027): Opened September 11, 2026; deadline December 18, 2026. Review is rolling, so don't wait for the deadline.
London (UK): 2027 summer applications opened in July–August 2026, rolling. There's no single hard date to rely on — roles close as divisions fill their classes. Check the official Morgan Stanley careers page for the current status of your target division.
The rolling trap
With rolling review, the pool you're competing against grows every week while open seats shrink. Morgan Stanley starts interviewing early applicants while later ones are still writing cover letters. An October application is fine; a December application is competing for scraps. The deadline is the last day you can apply, not the day you should. Note the US posting opened September 11 — candidates who applied in the first two weeks already have a head start on you.
How to apply
- Create an account on the Morgan Stanley careers portal and select your region.
- Choose your division carefully. Investment Banking, Sales & Trading, and other divisions hire separately — apply where your story is strongest.
- Submit your CV and application. Keep the CV to one page; bankers skim.
- Complete the online assessments if invited — typically numerical and logical reasoning plus situational judgment.
- Prep the HireVue before the invite arrives. Once it lands you usually have only a few days to record, and the questions are predictable if you've prepared. Do at least one full timed mock before you hit record for real.
What happens after you apply
Online application → online assessment → HireVue video interview → assessment centre / final interviews → offer. The HireVue covers motivation ("why Morgan Stanley"), competency questions, and commercial awareness — prepare one recent deal and one market view you can defend. Final rounds are usually an assessment centre or a series of one-on-ones with bankers from the division. Expect 4–8 weeks end to end — faster if you applied early.
