How to Prove Teamwork in the M&G Video Interview

How to Prove Teamwork in the M&G Video Interview

Why this prompt is difficult

Many candidates choose a good example but narrate it at team level. The interviewer still needs to understand what you personally changed.

Question shown in the assessment

Describe a situation where you worked cooperatively with a team to accomplish a difficult task.
- What was the situation?
- What were the goals and objectives of the group?
- What was your role in accomplishing these objectives?
- How well did the team perform?

Common mistakes to remove

  • Spending most of the answer setting the scene
  • Presenting cooperation as simply dividing the work
  • Avoiding tension or difficulty entirely
  • Finishing with “we succeeded” and no proof

How to build the response

  • State the objective and why it was demanding.
  • Use “I” for your decisions and “we” for the collective result.
  • Include one coordination or conflict point that required judgment.
  • End with evidence of performance plus a concise reflection.

A useful structure is challenge, shared goal, personal intervention and team result. The personal intervention is the centre: it should reveal how you helped others move toward the objective, not just how you completed your own tasks.
