Blackstone runs one of the earliest recruiting cycles in finance. If you are targeting their 2027 summer programs, the application window opens earlier than most banks — and missing the opening weeks can cost you the cycle. Here is how the timeline works, how to apply, and what happens after you submit.
When do applications open?
Blackstone typically opens applications for the following summer's programs in mid-summer, roughly a full year ahead. That means applications for summer 2027 opened around summer 2026. Exact dates shift each year and vary by program and region — check Blackstone's official careers page for the current cycle's opening and closing dates.
Application windows generally stay open through the autumn, but the posted deadline is misleading. Blackstone interviews on a rolling basis, so the effective deadline is whenever interview slots fill up.
Are applications reviewed on a rolling basis?
Yes. Blackstone screens applications and schedules interviews on a rolling basis. Candidates who apply in the first few weeks get the first assessment invitations and the first interview slots. Late applicants frequently find that programs are effectively full even before the official deadline passes.
The practical rule: apply within the first two weeks of the window opening. Have your CV, cover letter, and program preferences ready before applications open so you can submit immediately.
How to apply
- Submit your online application through Blackstone's careers portal. Choose your program and region carefully — the Americas, EMEA, and APAC processes run on different schedules and have different requirements.
- Complete the online assessment. For most programs this is Pymetrics games — short neuroscience-based games that measure traits like risk tolerance, attention, and decision-making. You will receive the invitation by email after applying.
- Record the digital interview. Shortlisted candidates are invited to a HireVue-style video interview with a small number of questions and limited preparation time per answer.
- Final-round interviews. Successful candidates are invited to final rounds, which may be in-person Superdays or virtual depending on the region.
What happens after you apply
Within days to a couple of weeks of submitting, expect the Pymetrics assessment invitation. Complete it promptly — your results determine whether you move forward, and delaying signals low interest.
If you clear the games, the digital interview invitation follows. Blackstone's digital interviews mix motivational questions ("Why Blackstone?", "Why this division?") with short behavioral prompts. Candidates who perform well are invited to final-round interviews through the autumn, and offers typically follow within weeks of the final round.
One note on Pymetrics: there are no "correct" answers to memorize, but understanding what each game measures — and avoiding careless mistakes under time pressure — makes a real difference.
